Photos from my journey through Ukraine, April 2007.
| Potemkin steps, Odessa. Taking this picture, I had my back to
the Audi dealership. I think it's fair to say they aren't making
the most of their world-famous landmark... |

| Battery 411, a 45-minute bus ride from central Odessa, is a
memorial park to Odessa's role in the Great Patriotic War (WW2).
They have the usual tanks and guns, but also a submarine. |
 |
| Odessa is a hugely popular seaside resort, but it was out of
season, so this amusement park was closed. |
 |
| These young cadets were om duty at monument in Shevchenko Park. |

| Domes of the Ouspensky Cathedral (Church of the Assumption),
Upper Lavra, Kiev |
 |
| Monument to the friendship between Russia and Ukraine, Kiev |
 |
| Me at Chernobyl. Background radiation level in Kiev is about
0.012, so you can see levels are elevated here. Reactor 4 is right
behind me. |
 |
| View across the main square in Pripyat, the deserted city built
to house Chernobyl workers and their families. |
 |
| A view of Pripyat from the top of the hotel. |

| Peaceful demonstrations in Maidan Nezhalovnesti, Kiev |
