Marketing analysis
This is my core area of expertise. In many fields, particularly
in financial services but increasingly across the board, companies
maintain a vast amount of data on their customers. My skill
areas are:
- statistical analysis and modelling
- analysis of recruitment and churn patterns
- customer segmentation
- analysis of data capture and processing systems.
Clients in this area have included banks, vehicle manufacturers,
telecommunications providers, retailers, charities, and the
leisure industry.
Office automation and MIS
I have created many systems for clients in-house using Microsoft
Office and Microsoft Visual Basic. These projects have covered
several areas of office automation and productivity:
- spreadsheet-based applications
- sales and contact databases
- data analysis suites
- response-handling systems
The clients' fields of business range from internet cafés
to heavy plant manufacturing, and from FMCG to cruise lines.
Analysis software
In the course of my market analysis work, I've devised a program
for my own use, which creates univariate analyses, cross-tabs,
response tables, and CHAID trees. The data is held in Microsoft
Access, and the output is directly sent to Microsoft Excel in
a presentation-ready format, just as I need it. I've now made

I've built a number of websites and e-commerce systems. The most
recent is Park-Up.com, a searchable
database, with mapping, of street parking spots in central London.
